Suggested Specifications and Features for Newman Brothers Railings

All railings shall be manufactured by Newman Brothers, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio in accordance with their current catalog and details as shown in the plans. Railings shall comply with OSHA and BOCA building regulations. All fittings to be non-ferrous; all fastenings to be stainless steel, brass or black oxide on steel. Joints between vertical and horizontal members shall be accurately machined to be sharp and true.

Finish shall be brushed satin for interior aluminum railings. For exterior aluminum rails, we feature a high performance polyurethane, Tnemec Endura ShieldŽ available in satin, high gloss nonmetallic colors.

Stainless steel, bronze and nickel silver rail shall be in a #4 satin finish or #8 mirror finish. Bronze rail may also be chemically oxidized to a light, medium or dark statuary finish. All copper based alloys shall have a clearcoat finish unless otherwise noted, including oxidized finished bronze.

Wood rails shall be walnut, oak, birch, maple or mahogany finish. Wood rails are furnished in a sealed and satin lacquer finish unless otherwise noted.


Glass rail base extrusion shall be GR-422 or GR-350, an extruded aluminum one-piece base, to be glazed in the field to allow for maximum adjustment of glass panels during erection; or GR-427, a factory-bonded, two-piece assembly if field glazing capabilities are not present at the job site.

Glass shall be 1/2" or 3/4" tempered monolithic, flat or bent in clear, bronze or grey tint finish for system 2 glass rail. Glass shall be 1/2" or 3/4" tempered clear, grey or bronze tint for system 1 glass rails.

Erector shall furnish PorRok anchoring cement as well as GE1200 silicone sealant to glaze the glass panels in the field in accordance with manufacturers' instructions (for system 2 rails).

Newman Brothers also makes available sandblasted or etched glass designs to enhance any interior decor. Designs in an applied ceramic frit are also available. Glass panels with your logo reinforce your company's image throughout your building.

Newman rails are shipped to job sites all over the world completely prefinished, assembled and ready to be installed.
